—Jamie Kern Lima
For years, I struggled with deep feelings of inadequacy. I saw myself as too short, too heavy, too unworthy—frankly, I didn’t like myself much at all. No matter how much I achieved, there was always that quiet, persistent voice in my head whispering, “You’re not enough.”
And here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:
It wasn’t my talent, intelligence, or potential that was holding me back. It was my self-worth.
It wasn’t my talent, intelligence, or potential that was holding me back. It was my self-worth.
This quote by Jamie Kern Lima stopped me in my tracks because it captures something so real:
We don’t fall short because our dreams are too big—we fall short because deep down, we don’t believe we deserve them.
We don’t fall short because our dreams are too big—we fall short because deep down, we don’t believe we deserve them.
We may want love, success, peace, connection...
But what we allow into our lives will always match what we believe we’re worthy of.
But what we allow into our lives will always match what we believe we’re worthy of.
The Power of Self-Worth
Self-worth is quiet. It doesn’t scream. It’s not about perfection, performance, or popularity.
It’s a grounded, steady knowing that you have value simply because you exist.
It’s a grounded, steady knowing that you have value simply because you exist.
When you have a strong sense of self-worth, you don’t have to prove anything. You make decisions from a place of inner stability rather than fear or desperation. You begin to honor your time, your energy, your voice.
When you don’t have it, everything gets harder. You may over-explain yourself, stay too long in the wrong places, or undercharge for your work. You may find yourself chasing approval, struggling with boundaries, or constantly second-guessing your worth in a world that profits off your self-doubt.
How Self-Worth Influences Our Actions
The relationship between self-worth and behavior is deep and often invisible. It’s not always what we’re saying—it’s what we’re allowing. What we tolerate. What we don’t ask for.
When self-worth is low, we:
- Apologize for taking up space
- Settle for less than we need or desire
- Talk ourselves out of applying, speaking up, or showing up
- Avoid risk because we fear rejection more than we trust ourselves
And the world mirrors that back. Not because we aren’t good enough—but because we’re quietly telling it not to give us more.
The truth is, you can have all the potential in the world, but if you don’t feel worthy of the life you desire, you will block it. You’ll resist it. Or you’ll push it away as soon as it gets close.
How to Cultivate a Strong Sense of Self-Worth
Self-worth isn’t something you’re born with or without. It’s something you can nurture. Like any relationship, it grows when you pay attention to it, speak kindly to it, and show up consistently.
Here are a few practices that have helped me rebuild mine:
Speak to Yourself with Compassion
Notice your inner dialogue. Is it kind? Is it patient?
Most of us speak to ourselves in ways we would never speak to someone we love. Begin to change that voice—not through fake positivity, but through truth. Replace “I’m such a failure” with “I’m learning, and I’m doing the best I can.”

Honor Your Energy
Every time you say yes when you want to say no, you send yourself a message that your needs don’t matter. Start small. Protect your time. Set boundaries. Trust that honoring yourself is not selfish—it’s self-respect.
Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection
Don’t wait to feel worthy until you “arrive.” Start celebrating the effort, the growth, the courage it takes to keep going. Every small step matters. Every choice to show up for yourself builds self-trust—and self-trust is the foundation of worth.
Surround Yourself with Reflective People
We all need mirrors—people who reflect our light back to us. Be mindful of who you let into your inner world. Are they supportive? Do they see you? Or do they feed your doubts? Choose community that helps you rise.
Embracing Your Worthiness
This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you were before the world told you otherwise.
You were born with worth. You didn’t have to earn it then, and you don’t have to earn it now.
So much of healing is simply reclaiming what’s always been yours.
You are worthy of love that feels safe.
You are worthy of rest, even when there’s more to do.
You are worthy of joy, not just survival.
You are worthy of your own forgiveness, softness, and grace.
You are worthy of rest, even when there’s more to do.
You are worthy of joy, not just survival.
You are worthy of your own forgiveness, softness, and grace.
You don’t have to chase your worth—you only have to stop running from it.
As Jamie Kern Lima said, “You don’t rise to what you believe is possible; you fall to what you believe you’re worthy of.”
So the question is not, “Can I do it?”
The question is, “Do I believe I’m worthy of having it?”
The question is, “Do I believe I’m worthy of having it?”
Let today be the day you stop shrinking yourself to fit into spaces that were never meant to hold all of you.
Your worth is not up for debate.
You don’t have to hustle for it, hide for it, or hurt for it.
You don’t have to hustle for it, hide for it, or hurt for it.
You simply have to claim it.
You are already enough.
You’ve set your intentions. Now nurture them.

How Pineapples Grow
Pineapples grow on a spiky, low-lying plant that is part of the bromeliad family. Rather than growing on trees, pineapples emerge from the center of the plant, crowning the top of a thick stem. Each plant produces only one fruit at a time, making it a precious yield.
Patience is Key

Growing a pineapple is not for the impatient gardener! Pineapples are commonly grown from the leafy crown of an existing fruit. This crown is planted in well-drained soil in a warm climate. It takes approximately 18 months for the first fruit to grow and mature. During this time, the plant requires consistent sunlight, water, and care.
After the first pineapple is harvested, the plant will grow a smaller "ratoon crop" about 12 months later. This second fruit is typically smaller and less robust than the first. Each pineapple plant produces one fruit per cycle. After the second harvest, the plant generally declines in productivity, and farmers often plant a new crop.
The Sweet Reward

The long wait for a pineapple is worth every moment. Its juicy, golden flesh is not only delicious but also packed with vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants. Each fruit is a labor of love, representing years of care and cultivation.
So, the next time you slice into a pineapple, take a moment to reflect on the patience and dedication it took to reach your table.
Be patient like a pineapple farmer

Much like a pineapple, our dreams often take time to mature. In a world that craves instant results, we may feel tempted to give up when progress isn’t immediately visible.
But consider the farmer planting a pineapple crown, trusting that unseen growth is happening beneath the surface. What if we chose to believe that magic is unfolding in our lives, even when we can’t see it? What if we trusted that God and Mother Nature are working behind the scenes, nurturing the seeds we’ve planted?
Our role is to tend to our thoughts, pull out the weeds of doubt, and water our minds with joy and optimism.
Like a pineapple farmer, be patient and consistent. Water your dreams, and in time, they will ripen and bring sweetness to your life.

As we approach the busiest time of the year, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activities.
With Christmas on the horizon, our days quickly fill up with shopping, cooking, attending holiday parties, and welcoming family visits. In today’s fast-paced world, where every minute seems accounted for, it’s all too easy to rush from one task to the next without taking a moment to breathe.
But it's precisely during these hectic periods that the simple act of pausing becomes more crucial than ever. Pausing, although it might seem like a small act, can profoundly impact our well-being and mindset. When we take a moment to stop, we give ourselves a chance to slow down, to really notice what’s happening within us, and to consciously decide how we want to respond to the events unfolding around us.
Pausing provides us with that much-needed space to breathe and be present. It allows us to connect with our emotions, helping us understand and manage them better, rather than letting them control our reactions. This brief stop can help recalibrate our thoughts and bring our focus back to what truly matters.
Moreover, reconnecting with the present through a pause can be incredibly grounding. It reminds us that we are here, now, and that this moment is as significant as any other. Although pausing may feel like inactivity, it is, in fact, a powerful choice. It's an active decision to not let life just happen to us, but to live it fully and intentionally.

So, as you navigate through the festive chaos, remember the power in the pause. It doesn’t need to be long—a few seconds of mindfulness, a brief moment to breathe deeply, or just time to feel the sensations around you can be incredibly refreshing. Each pause is a step back to yourself, a gentle reminder that amidst the holiday rush, you are important, and caring for your mental and emotional health is vital.
This season, let’s not just survive the holiday rush; let’s enjoy it. Let’s make time to celebrate our presence in the small moments, cherish our connections, and nurture our spirits. After all, taking care of yourself is perhaps the best gift you can give to yourself—and to others.

How much joy are you allowing into your life?

For many years, I unknowingly kept joy at a distance—not because I didn’t want to feel it, but because my belief system wouldn’t allow me to fully embrace or express it. The idea of feeling joyful made me uncomfortable, almost as if I were breaking an unspoken rule. It wasn’t until much later in life that I realized I had a subconscious program—one I had unknowingly created—that was “protecting” me from joy.
As a child, I developed a belief that showing joy could get me into trouble. To avoid that imagined risk, I’d learned to sabotage joyful moments, not consciously, but as a safety procedure my mind had set on autopilot. Anytime joy emerged, this belief stepped in and quietly shut it down.
Throughout my self-development journey, I’d often reflected on my relationship with joy, but I couldn’t quite grasp what was holding me back. It wasn’t until I began embracing holistic self-care and using techniques like EFT tapping that I started to unravel these old, unneeded safety mechanisms. As I released these outdated programs, something beautiful happened: my life and health began to improve. I started enjoying life in ways I had only dreamed of.
Finding Joy as a Key to Healing
Joy became a cornerstone of my healing, and I realized just how essential it is to the wellness journey. My mission now is to help others ignite joy in their lives, too, because joy isn’t just a fleeting feeling—it’s transformative, life-giving, and deeply healing.
In my work, I’m developing programs to help people rediscover joy. There’s nothing more fulfilling than this, and one of these programs will be a joyful retreat in one of my favorite destinations. If this resonates with you, stay tuned and sign up for updates—I’d love to have you join me!
What is Joy?

Can Joy Actually Heal?
Absolutely—joy can be profoundly healing. It’s more than a moment of happiness; it’s a powerful force with the ability to impact both mind and body in meaningful ways. Here’s how joy can serve as a healing force:
- Reduces Stress: Experiencing joy triggers the release of endorphins and other “feel-good” hormones that counter stress and combat feelings of anxiety or depression. Reduced stress can enhance immune function, cardiovascular health, and resilience.
- Promotes Physical Health: Joyful experiences have been shown to reduce inflammation and lower blood pressure, creating a healthier environment in the body. Research has linked positive emotions with a lower risk of chronic illnesses, as joy supports a balanced nervous system and fosters healing.
- Improves Mental Well-Being: Joy helps shift our focus from negative thoughts, fostering an optimistic outlook. This resilience boosts our ability to cope with life’s challenges and aids healing from trauma, loss, or pain.
- Strengthens Relationships: Sharing joy with others deepens bonds and provides emotional support. Feeling connected can be profoundly healing, alleviating loneliness or isolation and fostering a sense of belonging.
- Encourages Personal Growth: Joy fuels creativity, curiosity, and motivation, inspiring us to explore new perspectives and seek meaningful experiences. This growth brings purpose and fulfillment, contributing to mental and emotional health
So, yes—joy can be a transformative, revitalizing force that nurtures us on multiple levels. Embracing joy isn’t just about feeling good in the moment; it’s about cultivating well-being that enhances our entire life.

Most of us struggle with some variation of the “I’m not good enough, I don’t deserve, I am not worthy” track playing in our heads. It's a powerful habit that can sabotage all your efforts to change or achieve anything!
This self-defeating mindset can prevent you from applying for your dream job, accepting a date, venturing into entrepreneurship, writing the book you’ve always wanted to, or even trying out a new hairstyle. The variations of "I'm not slim enough," "I'm not smart enough," or simply "not enough," are endless, and your mind likely knows exactly what your personal "not enough" is.
